Collaborating Institutions
RECLICKS is a center of excellence for climate finance policy research, training, and education, initiated by the Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC) and supported by the University of Waterloo through the FINCAPES Project. This collaboration bridges Indonesian and Canadian expertise in energy policy, climate finance, and sustainability research, creating a strong platform for evidence-based policy, knowledge exchange, and capacity building. Together, these institutions drive innovative solutions to advance Indonesia’s transition toward a sustainable and clean energy future.

The Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center is an independent, non-government think tank established in June 2016. PYC is based in Jakarta and its main goal is to promote independent, systematic, professional analysis and research in the field of natural resources and national security. The Center aims to participate in a wide range of research spectrum and to provide policy solutions and/or recommendations within the natural resources and national security. PYC also plays a role as the bridge in connecting various entities in those sector.

The FINCAPES (Flood Impacts, Carbon Pricing, and Ecosystem Sustainability) project is a 5.5-year collaborative initiative led by the University of Waterloo’s Faculty of Mathematics and Faculty of Environment, with funding from the Government of Canada. The project has three main areas of focus: Nature-based Solutions (NbS), flood resilience, and climate finance.
For the climate finance component, FINCAPES partners with the Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center (PYC) to strengthen Indonesia’s policy framework, particularly in developing and implementing effective carbon pricing mechanisms. This collaboration aims to mobilize investments for low-carbon initiatives, accelerate the renewable energy transition, and design policies that balance environmental goals with economic growth and social equity. Through joint research, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement, the partnership works to ensure that climate finance becomes a key driver in achieving Indonesia’s national emission reduction targets and sustainable development ambitions.
